UNLEARNING SILENCE for ALLIES
You want to be a good ally. You lead women, people of color, and those who are marginalized and underrepresented. You want to do the right thing, but don't always know what that looks like.
Each session is tailored to the challenges and opportunities of the group. Sample session description and learning outcomes below.
How to Build a Speak Up Culture
You’ve long told people to speak up. After all, you want people to tell you what’s really going on before things blow up. You want diverse perspectives in order to get to the best outcomes. You want to build psychological safety for your team and your community. But people still stay silent. What gives?
In this interactive workshop, we explore how learned silence and the ways that you’re unintentionally silencing people undercuts your best intentions. We examine the messages you’re really sending with your actions and offer ways to build new patterns of working together.
Learning outcomes include:
- Ways you’ve unintentionally normalized silence
- How to create clear paths for voice
- Understanding and designing for different wiring
- Using your own voice to establish new norms
